This class introduces students to the fundamental techniques of woodwind and brass instruments, including posture, breath control, note production, and reading music. Students will choose an instrument to focus on, such as clarinet, flute, saxophone, trumpet, baritone/euphonium, or trombone.
*All students will need to rent or purchase an instrument. Your director is happy to help guide you in selecting the right one—there are many reliable vendors in the DFW area and online.
More than just drumming—this class builds well-rounded percussionists! Students will learn proper stick and mallet technique, posture, rhythm reading, and foundational rudiments.
Each student will need a Bell Kit, practice pad, pair of mallets, and drumsticks. These can be purchased or rented as a bundle or individually at most music stores or online.
We believe in training percussionists who can think musically and play confidently across a variety of instruments!.
**A rhythm and coordination assessment is required prior to enrollment.

Intermediate Band is the next level of musical development for students who have completed Beginning Band or demonstrate a strong foundation in instrumental performance. This class challenges students to expand their skills through more complex rhythms, key signatures, tone production, ensemble blend, and independent part-playing.
Students will work on concert repertoire, full band technique, and continue to refine music reading, articulation, and performance readiness. This class also introduces concepts such as phrasing, dynamics, and expressive playing in a group setting. A comprehensive placement assessment is required to enroll, which includes scales, rhythm reading, posture, and tone quality to ensure students are ready for the increased expectations of this level.
Advanced Band is designed for students who have mastered fundamental techniques and are ready to be challenged with more complex music and performance expectations. This class focuses on advanced concepts such as extended ranges, complex rhythms, diverse key signatures, intonation control, articulation styles, and musical phrasing.
Students are expected to demonstrate strong sight-reading abilities, a consistent practice routine, and the maturity to lead and perform within a full ensemble setting. Repertoire will include a variety of concert works, thematic pieces, and festival-ready selections.
**Placement in Advanced Band requires instructor approval and a performance evaluation that assesses tone quality, technical skill, music literacy, and ensemble awareness.
A playful and engaging introduction to music! Young learners will explore music through movement, singing, rhythm games, and age-appropriate activities designed to build coordination and spark creativity.
This class lays the foundation for future music study while having tons of fun!
Students will discover the world of music through interactive lessons that cover basic music concepts such as rhythm, melody, and form. Using fun instruments like boomwhackers, handbells, and recorders, students will build confidence, teamwork, and a deeper appreciation for the art of sound.
